Be Not Weary in Well Doing

March 11, 2010

Today was my regular temple shift. I start very early and almost get a nap the night before. 3:30 am comes so early! I shower and off I go by 4:30 am.
Prayer meeting starts at 4:55 and 5:15 am. I love doing what I am doing. I serve as dressing room coordinator for half the shift. I am moving around constantly, which is a plus for me. I just have to keep ahead of the clothing needs in initiatory, keep the laundry sent downstairs when the bags fill up from there as well. It is also my job to keep the flow of each sister's assignments.
Each week is different. Some days things just get kind of crazy, and then like today we had a lull and went with the flow.
There was a Polynesian sister who took one of my co-workers aside and expressed her opinion about some changes that were recently put into effect. She had not been to our temple before so was going by how things were run from where she was from. She didn’t say exactly where that was. Her concern was feeling the Spirit aside from the changes. She reported it and wanted my friend to pass it on.
After she walked away I suggested she go talk to someone in the Temple presidency, like we are told a lot of the times to let them talk directly to the brethren. She went to look for her but was unable to find her. About ten minutes later I had the impression to go to the office to fill our temple names box. Then, just as I was returning to the dressing area I found the sister who had expressed her concerns.
I greeted her and acknowledged her concern. She related to me what she had told the other sister. I recommended that instead of one of us telling the temple presidency, for her to go directly and let them know how she felt. I also mentioned that the prophet, President Monson had requested we follow the new instructions. She seemed to understand. She showed me a ring on her finger that belonged to her deceased sister. She mentioned that it was in her jewelry box with a stone missing and that it had been ten years since she passed.
I felt impressed to ask her if she had done her sister’s work. She said, “No, I didn’t think she was ready.” I thought Hmmmm, interesting.” I asked if she had looked on the new.familysearch.org Church website. She said some. I directed her to go look again to find that her sisters work would come up for he to complete it for her. I also told her I knew her sister would “haunt” her to bring her work to be done at the temple.
She was touched by the Spirit by what I told her and she cried tears of joy. I had a witness of the Spirit that her sister was now in deed ready. She was happier than when I found her. I am grateful to have helped her to understand the importance of bringing her own family names and promised her she would definitely feel the Spirit each time she came to do this work. We both felt chills and a witness of the Spirit that it was true. She gave me a hug and walked away with peace and comfort to go forward to do her sister’s work. I felt I was at the right place at the right time today and felt the hand of God
