Still in the Holiday Mood--Holiday has Come and Gone

Did you know that today, January 6, is really the day that is celebrated in Latin countries as the day of the Three Magi Kings, Los Magos Reyes or The Three Wise Men. The celebration was the arrival of the Wise Men to Bethlehem, which we know when Christ was almost two years old. Joseph was given a dream to know it was time to leave and go into Egypt. Joseph was obedient, then returned after King Herrod was dead. It is a beautiful story that they found him, who came bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, they worshiped him and went their way.

My mother dearly loved poinsettias, in fact she had some in her back yard in California. They grew next to the house. I remember that they were always in full bloom around the holidays too. I think that is probably why I love those crimson velvety flowers.

I saw a program that talked about myths about Christmas and one of them was that the leaves and flowers of the poinsettia are NOT poisonous! News flash for me. I believed what was said they were. That is the only myth that stayed in my mind it was such a shock.

Now I can move on to a NEW YEAR and maybe take off the Christmas songs. I would keep them on if others didn't get tired of them. I sometimes play them in July because it brings Christ into my heart just hearing them anytime time of year. Hymns do that for me too.

I have already picked out the songs for my lesson on Sunday, The Spirit of God, Adam-ondi-ahman, and I Stand All Amazed. I was studying my lesson this morning early and had the thought to call the chorister so she could prepare for Sunday. I am glad I did.
