Appreciating My Roots, Ancestry

Fidela Recio, a maternal great-aunt, a sister to Feliciano, is holding a nephew in Brownsville, Texas. She never had children of her own. She had married, and had a store in Brownsville. She divorced her (drunken) husband, and never married again.

I was given this photo by a distant cousin, Cookie Perales whose father, Patricio, and Uncle, Esiquiel-her Step Father were brothers to my great-grandfaher, Feliciano Recio. Her mother married the brother first, then married the second one, when her first husband passed away.
Jose Maria Recio. He was a farmer, and is in this photo in an open market in Matamoros, very likely. He raised vegetables, fruit, and looks like he must have raised chickens, with the box of eggs to his left. Looks like brown and white eggs.

This morning I was reflecting upon the contribution my ancestors have made to my success and life. I understand the hardships they had as they chose to come to this earth when they did. I also accepted the responsibility and debt of gratitude I have of their lives.

Some time ago it dawned on me that we each must have had a choice to come when we were born. It must have been a very grand process. We mingled all together in heaven as spirit children of God. We lived in that sphere and prepared ourselves for life that whole period of existence. Then, I wonder how were assigned the parents or how that process was decided or made.

However it was, I know that the full gospel plan was reviewed, and for those who came to earth,I must have raised my hand, and was given the charge to remember my ancestors and facilitate and search for them, to identify them as my kindred. I am honored to embrace their histories, their stories and their memorabilia. I treasure the photographic history that are available through modern technology for more than just me to obtain.

I share willingly, and if anyone reading this desires more or/and what I have here, please ask me. My goal is to compile the documents of their history including certificates, the written word, besides photographs. We are all connected and I am so blessed to know about my kindred.
