This week the young men in our ward had an activity to learn the NewFamilySearch program. I invited a senior couple that I work with to come help us out in our Family History classroom in our ward building, Arlen and Patricia Clement. Between the three of us, six young men found their family lines. The Clement's help really made a big difference and the young men received the instruction to log in to set up their own personal accounts. Aaron brought his Mac laptop and helped with the extra computer. we had more boys than computers. Next time we can teach them at the Family History Center in the Lindon Stake where I go each week too serve as an FHC consultant.
This week, a crowd was already scheduled at the Stake FHC building, so scheduling for their next visit will also be a fruitful mission. Imagine that these youth could pick up several family names and start the process for them to be forever families.
Many had the opportunity to search out their ancestral lines that had been supplied by records already entered by someone in their own families. One young man was successful to find ancestors who dated back to the time just after Christ's resurrection the year 50 A.D. His lines out that far took him to Sweden and found his connection to several lines of nobility. Ireland was another area that he found his noble ancestors. He was very excited to go home and show his parents what he discovered.
This work is contagious as I was telling a friend that I told about NewFamilySearch. The word is spreading and making many rewarding experiences and opens many doors for missionary work, and help their kindred to embrace the blessings waiting through this sacred work, responsibility to save our kindred dead.
Some had found ancestors who needed their ordinances done, and would find them ready to take to the temple for baptisms in April. That was the purpose of directing them to seek out as many as they could find. It opened the door for their curiosity to find the fruits of their labors sustained to that result.
I have a strong witness that this work is so vital for our own salvation as well as theirs. We become Saviors on Mount Zion, literally by becoming obedient and diligent in this cause. It bind families for time and eternity. To this I so testify. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
