The theme of ward conference was "By Small and Simple Things." Referenced from the scripture, in the Book of Mormon,
Alma 37: 6
6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
Doctrine and Covenants
64: 33
33 Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.
Small and Simple Things~ A special song was sung, written by our Relief Society President, Raylene Ireland-
By small and simple things are great things come to pass,
Small choices we make will mark our souls at lasdt.
Be noble then in though and deed,
The Spirit's voice that we may heed
To guide aright in every need.
Small acts of daily prayers will strengthen and sustain
In holiness we'll grow As we call upon His name .
Let prayer increase in every life
Seek earnestly to learn his will,
Build unity and conquer strife.
The scriptures old and new bear witness of God's plan.
A small and simple way To communicate with man.
Their mighty truths out souls engage
That we may grow in faith and light and emulate His holy ways.
Thru service we forsake the selfishness of life.
Obedient and kind we seek Eternal Life.
Our neighbors good we truly seek
In thought and deed we help bless and grow in love thru selflessness.
Dear Father, wilt Thou bless our efforts great and small
As we strive to live thy word And give to thee our all.
Please help us change in heart and mind
That we might strive to love Thee more and Heaven's richest blessings find.
The bishop gave his talk around the thoughts in this poem/song. Just doing our basics, like prayers, attending our meetings, and paying our tithes and offerings, along with temple attendance. A survey was take last month to see how our stake measured up. Out of the 88% temple recommend holders, only 22% of those attended the temple in November, the month before the survey was done.
I encouraged my ward family to double their attendance from what they usually do. We are suppose to attend regularly, which means, attending the temple consistently and on the same day each month to make it a habit. I love the temple and doing the saving ordinances for my kindred dead. I pray all my children will reap the blessings of regular temple attendance.
